I can empathise with everything you have written - as someone who wants to do everything themselves I have to familiarise myself with building codes. And it makes my head hurt!<br />A good friend of mine is renovating his pool area in the house he recently bought. The pool fencing laws here are so strict - height of fence, gate access and lock types, direction and distance between fence railings, regulation fencing materials, type of floor tiling used, house window modifications (two sides of pool area abut the house) to prevent access etc etc. You know the drill. YET.....less than 100 metres away is his unfenced 1 megalitre dam!! Nothing needs to be done for that! What the...???<br />And I also love that staircase - no chance of THAT passing inspection!
